About CheckWellCall
A gentle check-in. Real reassurance.
Our Why
Most people don't need more apps. They need reassurance.
CheckWellCall was created because we believe everyone deserves to age with dignity and independence. It started with a simple thought: a steady check-in can make a hard day feel a little less heavy.
When someone you love lives alone, silence can be stressful. A missed call. A "I'm fine" that doesn't sound fine. Or a day where loneliness hits harder than pain.
Our Story
For us, CheckWellCall started with a simple question: how do you know someone you love is okay when you can't always be there?
Gary's story
My mother is 86 years old. Like so many older adults, she values her independence, and I want her to have it for as long as possible. But being independent doesn't mean the people who love you stop worrying.
There were mornings when I'd be at work, caught up in meetings and everything else life throws at you, and a thought would suddenly hit me: "I haven't talked to Mom yet. Is she okay?" Most of the time, everything was fine. But until I heard her voice, I didn't know, and that uncertainty stayed with me.
My co-founder, Shaun, understood that feeling from his own family. His grandmother lives in another state, and he knows what it's like to care deeply about someone without being close enough to check on them every day. We realized this wasn't just our problem. Millions of families have a parent, grandparent, relative or friend who lives independently, and they want to respect that independence while still knowing the person they care about is okay.
And the answer shouldn't have to be another app, another wearable, or another device to charge and learn. We kept coming back to something remarkably simple: the telephone. It's familiar and accessible, and for generations a phone call has been how we say, "I'm thinking about you. Are you okay?"
So that's what we built. CheckWellCall makes a scheduled check-in call to a regular phone. It asks how they're doing, whether they've eaten and taken their medicine, and keeps a family member or caregiver in the loop when follow-up may be needed. We're not trying to replace sons, daughters, grandchildren or caregivers. We want to support them, and we want the person on the other end of the phone to keep feeling respected, independent and in control.

Shaun's story
My grandmother raised me. She's 93, turning 94 in January, and she still lives independently in her own home, a few states away from me.
I try to visit once a month, but it gets hard. I try to call every day, but some days are harder than others. Sometimes it's late at night before I can pick up the phone, and then I'm torn between checking on her and not wanting to wake her. I'd feel terrible if I missed a day.
And I'll be honest: when you call someone you love who lives alone and they don't answer, you worry that something happened.
There's another thing I didn't expect. There are questions I need answers to: Are you in any pain? Did you take your medicine? Did you eat? Are you staying hydrated? When I ask them every call, it starts to feel like I'm scolding her, and she doesn't always want to tell me. So our calls turned into checklists instead of conversations.
That's why we built CheckWell. It calls her every day at the same time and asks those questions warmly, without the pressure. I get the update, and when I call, we get to just talk. And she actually looks forward to hearing from it every day.
CheckWell doesn't replace me calling her. It means I don't have to worry about the days I can't.

Technology was never the reason we built CheckWellCall. People were. It's a simple idea built around something families have always done: checking on the people we care about, even on the days we can't be there ourselves.
What We Believe
Dignity & Independence
We believe older adults deserve dignity, independence, and control over their lives.
Support for Caregivers
Families and caregivers deserve support that's consistent and calm.
No scare tactics. No hovering. Just a gentle routine that helps people stay connected and on track.
How CheckWellCall Works
CheckWellCall uses friendly phone calls to check in.
No special devices. No new hardware. Just a call.
During a check-in, we ask simple questions about things like wellbeing, mood, pain, daily activities, and safety. If something seems off—or if calls are missed—CheckWellCall can alert family members or caregivers so a real person can follow up.
Think of it like a friendly knock on the door—without actually needing a door.
