Ava: Hello Juan, this is Ava from CheckWellCall. How are you feeling right now?
Juan: I'm feeling okay.
Ava: Thank you for sharing that with me, Juan. Could you please rate how you're feeling on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best you've ever felt?
Juan: I'm feeling about a 6 today.
Ava: Thank you for sharing that with me, Juan. Are you experiencing any pain or discomfort today? If so, could you tell me how strong it feels on a scale from 1 to 10?
Juan: I feel a little pain in my back, and it's about a 6.
Ava: I'm sorry you're in pain, Juan. I'll notify your caregiver. How have you been feeling emotionally? Have you been anxious, worried, or down, or maybe feeling good or content?
Juan: Just content.
Ava: That's wonderful to hear, Juan. Have you been able to eat and stay hydrated okay today?
Juan: Yes, I've eaten. I had breakfast, and I had coffee and water.
Ava: That sounds great, Juan. How did you sleep last night?
Juan: I didn't sleep too well last night.
Ava: I'm sorry to hear you didn't sleep well, Juan. Have you taken your medicines today?
Juan: I have not taken my medicines.
Ava: Thank you for letting me know, Juan. Are you moving around safely in your home?
Juan: No, I'm not moving around at all. I fell last night and hurt my back.
Ava: I'm really sorry to hear that, Juan. Is there anything on your mind, or anything you need help with right now?
Juan: Uh, no, I just need help with someone helping me get to the store tomorrow. My back hurts.
Ava: Juan, I'm concerned about your back pain and the fall you mentioned. Please call 911 now if you feel you need urgent help. I will notify your caregiver right away. Thank you for sharing with me today, Juan. You're not alone. We'll check in again soon. Please take care until then. It's always good to hear your voice.
- When something's urgent, like a fall or severe pain, you're alerted right away by text and email. What counts as a concern?
- On a normal day, a short all-clear update after the call (texts on Plus and Premium).
- Your dashboard has the full call summary, plus trends over time.
- Texts never include your loved one's name or health details. Those stay in your private dashboard.
How It Works
Set it up once. Every day after that is automatic.
-
1
Set a call time
Pick the time that suits your loved one's routine. Works with any landline or mobile, no apps or devices needed.
-
2
Your loved one checks in
A friendly call asks how their day is going, whether they've eaten, taken their medicine and are drinking enough water.
-
3
You receive an update
You get a short update after each call, and your dashboard shows the details and trends over time.
What happens if they don't answer?
- We call back once, about an hour later. Retries are only placed between 9 AM and 8 PM, so we won't wake them.
- If that call is missed too, you get a text saying a check-in was missed, so you can reach out yourself.
- If they still haven't answered after 24 hours, we send an urgent follow-up to you and your backup contacts.
- When they pick up again, you get an "all clear" text.
CheckWellCall lets you know when a check-in is missed. It doesn't contact emergency services. You and your family decide what to do next.
What counts as a concern?
Urgent: text and email right away (every plan)
- They mention a fall, can't get up, chest pain, trouble breathing, or ask for emergency help
- Severe pain (8 or higher out of 10)
- A very low wellness rating (4 or lower out of 10), or they sound very down
- Something in the call that Ava flags for your attention
Heads-up: email after the call (plus a text on Plus and Premium)
- Moderate pain (5 to 7), or a lower-than-usual wellness rating (5 or 6)
- They haven't taken their medicine, eaten, or had enough to drink
- Poor sleep, or trouble moving around
- Feeling anxious, worried or stressed
Every call's full summary is in your dashboard. CheckWellCall isn't a medical or emergency service. If they need urgent help, call 911.
Why we built CheckWell
We started with our own families.
My mother is 86, and she values her independence. But there were mornings at work, caught up in meetings, when it would suddenly hit me: "I haven't talked to Mom yet. Is she okay?"
Most of the time everything was fine. But until I heard her voice, I didn't know. CheckWell gives families that reassurance, without another app or device for the people they love.
My grandmother raised me. She's 93, still lives on her own, and lives in another state. I try to call every day, but some days it isn't until late at night, and then I worry about waking her. And honestly, when she doesn't pick up, your mind goes to the worst.
Now CheckWell calls her every day at the same time and asks the things I need to know but don't want to keep asking: Did you eat? Did you take your medicine? From me, that can feel like scolding. From CheckWell, it's a friendly daily call. She actually looks forward to it.
What families say
“I am a NYC transit worker and I am working underground most of the day, so I can't always check in on my mom. Knowing CheckWellCall is calling her every day gives me and my brothers peace of mind. And my mom really enjoys the calls and looks forward to them.”
“CheckWellCall takes some of the pressure off. I can't always be there to check in, and having that extra support gives me a little more peace of mind.”
“Managing care for aging family members while working and raising a family is quite a bit to handle. I wish I had a service like CheckWellCall when I was fending for myself as a caregiver. Having someone make wellness calls and notifying me immediately post wellness check is fantastic.”

Why a Daily Check-in Matters
A simple routine that supports independence and eases worry
The Power of Consistency
NIH research shows that consistent social engagement correlates with better cognitive health outcomes. Regular voice interactions help maintain mental acuity and provide a reliable anchor in the daily routine.
Noticing Sooner When Something's Off
Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults, and the longer someone goes without help, the harder recovery can be. A daily call at the same time means an unanswered check-in gets noticed, and you're told, instead of it going unseen until someone happens to call.
Reducing Caregiver Burnout
The psychological weight of "remembering to check" is a major source of caregiver stress. Automating the routine verification lifts this cognitive load, letting you focus on quality time when you do connect.
